FAQ
How many pictures will I receive?
You will receive all of the pictures I edit! How many is that? This depends on your session type and length, but my contract guarantees at least 30 images. The average gallery I send is over 100 photos.
How do I receive my photos?
You will receive a gallery of digital files electronically via email that you can then download on a computer to a hard drive or USB drive (or wherever you store important files). I do not print photos but can suggest good places for you to print. I highly suggest not downloading on a phone since phones will compress the files and alter the resolution of your photos. You will have 30 days to download your photos. Make sure you save them to several places. It will be your responsibility to store these photos long-term.
What does the photo session price include?
The photo session fee includes the photo session itself, the photographer's time in post-session editing, and high-quality digital files delivered electronically. Tax will be added to all photo session fees. Travel fees start at $20 for shoots 30 minutes or more from my home.
How long is a session?
Sessions are at least one hour long unless it's a specially advertised mini session. Depending on the type of session, it may be longer than one hour (newborn session).
How should we dress for our family session?
In colors that are not all the same (avoid being too "matchy-matchy") but complement each other (Go to Pinterest or Google for ideas). Stay away from busy patterns, loud colors, or distracting logos/graphics. Of course, consider your location and time of year.
When's the best time to have a session with a newborn?
Usually, newborn sessions are done 7-10 days after the birth. However, I have photographed newborn sessions 2-3 weeks after the birth with beautiful results.
What should I expect at a newborn session?
My newborn sessions are not studio posed portraits. My newborn photography style is more natural and almost has a documentary-style feel to it. I want you to look at these photos and have an emotional connection to them and to this time in your life. I always do these sessions at your home and let the baby lead the day. I will photograph all different parts of newborn care including breastfeeding, bottle feeding, changing diapers, etc. (within your comfort level). We will also pose the baby in natural ways using natural lighting. I primarily shoot in one or two rooms in the house that have the best lighting. Sessions are usually 1-2 hours long and include pictures with Dad, Mom, and siblings. Please dress baby and yourselves in neutral colors. I highly suggest not wearing clothes with patterns, graphics, or logos on them.
What should I expect at a one-year session?
A one-year session is one of my favorite sessions to photograph! Babies are able to interact with me (and Dad/Mom) and understand cues but are not mobile enough to run away from us yet (haha). I will photograph the baby playing and interacting in his/her environment then set up a few natural-looking poses. Then, parent/child poses are great at the end of the session. A one-year-old's attention span is not very long, so usually, this is a shorter session (30-60 minutes), but the outcome is ALWAYS amazing!
